RABAUL “VOLCANO TOWN” TOUR or DIVE
Dramatically situated on Simpson Harbour with a backdrop of volcanoes, Rabaul is one of the most spectacular and interesting towns in PNG. The 1994 eruptions of Mount Tavurvur and Mount Vulcan left the old town virtually deserted, with the airport and most business houses relocating to the Kokopo area. As well as the excitement of seeing an active volcano up close, Rabaul also has a fascinating WWII history and visitors can explore Japanese cave systems, barge tunnels, aircraft wrecks and submarines.

New Britain was one of the first areas in Papua New Guinea to be visited by early explorers and navigators due to its strategic position on 17th century shipping routes between South America and Asia. In the late 1800’s, New Britain’s natural beauty and diverse opportunities attracted adventurers, traders and missionaries. Infamous names such as Mendana, the Marquis de Rey and Torres are all associated in this area of PNG’s history.

DAY 1

 Welcome to PNG. Meeting Service on arrival Port Moresby with transit assistance to domestic flight.
Transfer to selected hotel for 6 night stay with Full Breakfasts.
DAY 2 Half day WWII Battle Sites Tour.
DAY 3 Full day at leisure or choose an optional tour.
DAY 4 Full day Rabaul and Environs Tour.
DAY 5 Half day Volcano Cruise or Tour.
DAY 6 Full day at leisure or choose an optional tour.
DAY 7 Transfer to airport for flight to Port Moresby and onward departure flight.
