west new britain - walindi and loloata island
Papua New Guinea is a very special place for divers, where
one of the world’s richest and last remaining pristine coral reef
environments can be explored. There are an abundance of
dive sites including deep and shallow reefs, coral walls, barrier
reefs, atolls, passes and lagoons. This fabulous underwater
world has year round accessibility and is complimented
by superb above water scenery and astounding cultural
diversity.
West New Britain offers an unspoiled natural environment
and is reputed to be the birthplace of maritime trade some
20,000 years ago. Walindi Plantation Resort, situated on the
very beautiful Kimbe Bay is a south seas wonderland, fringed
by volcanic mountains and renowned worldwide by dive
enthusiasts. There are hot springs and spectacular jungle
walks, or travel further afield to Talasea on the Willaumez
Peninsula to see WWII aircraft wrecks, thermal geysers and
shell money making.
Located 20km from the capital of Port Moresby, Loloata
Island offers a relaxing retreat from the city, where guests can
swim, snorkel, fish, sail board, or dive in the tranquil waters
of Bootless Bay. Only minutes away from the jetty, divers will
find a dazzling array of great fish, corals and invertebrates.
Loloata and its surrounding reefs and islands are the perfect
nature study and are regularly visited by botanists, marine
biologists and others with a special interest in our flora, fauna
and rarer marine species. |
