Kavieng
With its white sandy beaches and small offshore islands, Kavieng is the type of tropical town typified in this area of New Ireland in PNG.
The unique Malagan culture produces highly decorative masks that have become a collector’s item since Kavieng first made contact with Western cultures. There is a vast collection of war memorabilia scattered in, around and under the water surrounding Kavieng, a through back to a time when war was everywhere in PNG.
Beneath the water lies a haven for divers with excellent visibility and sunken wrecks of ships and submarines housing schools of pelagic fish. Kavieng is a must for dive enthusiasts.

Rabaul “Volcano Town”
Rabaul is one of the most spectacular and interesting towns in PNG. Dramatically set with a backdrop of “live” volcanoes, the historic and constantly changing landscape is an adventure waiting to happen.
In 1994, eruptions of Mount Tavuvur and Mount Vulcan virtually wiped out the town causing the airport and most businesses to relocate to the Kokopo area.
As well as getting a close up look at a live volcano, you can explore the WWII history of the Japanese cave systems and war relics that are scatted all around the area.
